Welcome to the latest E-Newsletter from West Sussex County Council...

Selsey Academy: Thank you for support

Academy SelseyThe Academy Selsey has expressed its public gratitude for the support it received following the major fire on Sunday 21 August.

The school said: "The Academy Selsey would like to thank all those in the local community, our Academy sponsor - The Kemnal Academies Trust, local authorities and the Department for Education for the support and warm wishes."

A temporary school will be built on-site and ready to house 400 Selsey students by early autumn.

During the first two to three weeks of term, students will be taught in local community spaces provided by the Town Council, Chichester District Council and Bunn Leisure.

Please email the Academy Selsey with your questions or queries at office@theacademyselsey-tkat.org.

Important changes at your Household Waste and Recycling Sites

HWRSUpcoming changes made to 11 West Sussex Household Waste Recycling Sites (HWRSs) will come into effect from 1 October 2016.

The changes include: updated opening days and times, new non-household waste disposal charges and the closure of some Chichester District mobile recycling sites.

The decision was taken after considering residents' responses from the public consultation and comments from Parish, District and Borough Councils.

Further information about the changes can be read online from Tuesday 6 September.

Please visit www.recyclingforwestsussex.org/changes.

Get behind your West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service

Safer in our handsPledge your support to ‘Safer in our hands’ - a campaign to keep our local fire crews working for the communities across West Sussex.

Plans by the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner’s office will look at taking over West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

We believe it should remain part of the County Council because the service doesn’t just respond to emergency situations – it works closely with other Council services to make communities safer, stronger and more resilient.

Sign the online petition by 30 September 2016 at www.westsussex.gov.uk/saferinourhands.
