Lancing Fire Station To The Rescue!

31 July 2026 5:45 AM | Anonymous

At 9.38am on Tuesday, LBP was called to an incident in Marlborough Road just outside Lancing Fire Station.

A driver travelling around the one-way system found the car was on fire and shouted out the window as he passed Shoreham Vehicle Auctions, where staff immediately called 999. The driver then managed to make it to Lancing Fire Station, avoiding any other vehicles from catching fire.

We are very lucky to have Lancing Fire Station on the park as West Sussex Fire & Rescue Services have been our saviours on many occasions. From saving a business in Winston Business Centre when their yard caught fire, to saving a unit in Chartwell Road that houses industrial chemicals, when a motorhome caught fire next to it in Elm Grove. That's just to mention two occasions where West Sussex Fire & Rescue Services have skilfully controlled fires, avoiding injury and saving commercial buildings.

Lancing Fire Station is a Reserve Station and therefore it's not constantly manned. On Tuesday, we were luckily there were trained staff on site, as the 999 call enabled them to immediately helped to extinguish the blaze. The call also ensured that Worthing Fire Station could quickly deploy their truck, which arrived within 5 minutes to fully cool the car and prevent the fire from reigniting.

In these cases, the road beneath the engine is normally badly damaged, but due to Lancing's quick action, the new road surface has very minor damage, which the insurance is now thankfully addressing.

LBP would like to thank the driver for his quick reactions, Shoreham Vehicle Auctions staff for immediately ringing 999 and Rabbit staff for also alerting LBP, as that enable LBP to help clear the road to allow access for Worthing's Fire Truck to reach the scene quickly.

LBP would also to thank everyone who quickly moved their vehicles and waited patiently whilst the incident was addressed.

It goes without saying that LBP would also like to thank our talented local Fire Services who help keep the park safe, for which we are very grateful.
