Seventh Night of LBP Road Improvements Update

09 July 2025 7:54 AM | Anonymous

Works Status: On Schedule

LBP are pleased to report that a difficult programme of works was completed night last on schedule, whilst maintaining vehicular access to all but Blenheim Road and Brooklands House.

The crew transformed the fourth section of the one-way system in Marlborough Road, from the Marlborough Road Car Park to the junction with Winston Road. They also planed Marlborough Road from the Winston Road Junction, across the Chartwell Road Junction and up to just passed Sussex Transport’s access near Commerce Way.

LBP met with the Liners on site last night to review all lines and one-way arrows. It was recommended to black out the additional double yellow lines outside the Marlborough Road Car Park for now, to provide parking whilst the surface cures fully. Once cured, these lines will be burnt off. The missing lines on Chartwell Road Bend were reviewed and have now been fully painted, along with the loading bays by the Fire Station.

The crew will be resurfacing from the Winston Road junction down to just passed Sussex Transport’s access tonight and planing the end of Marlborough Road and Commerce Way. Please note that as the roadway at the entrance to Commerce Way around the grass area has recently been resurfaced, this area will not be included in these works.

Dean Larter, FM Conway’s Works Supervisor has again carefully planned tonight's works to ensure planing starts at the far end of Commerce Way, to provide access through Commerce Way to Marlborough Road, whilst they resurface the junction with Winston Road. Then by the time the planing reaches the Commerce Way junction with Marlborough Road, the Winston Road access to Chartwell Road will be open.

We are sorry to say it is hard to give an accurate estimate of when the resurfacing at Winston Road Junction will be completed. Please assume that up to midnight you will need to approach from Commerce Way and after midnight use Winston Road, but please be understanding if you are then redirected to the other access point.

To help avoiding any HGV turning issues, LBP will ask Dean to liaise with known HGV operators to let them know when the switch happens again tonight.

Can all vehicles at The Quadrant after 8pm tonight, please use the rear access through Blenheim Road and go the wrong way around the one-way system.

To protect the new surfaces whilst they cure, please could all vehicle loaders help by placing plyboard under their runners when loading cars on the new surface. Free plyboard can be found in the woodstore outside Ruhrpumpen Uk Ltd, on the corner of Marlborough Road and Commerce Way.

Please could everyone continue to drive slowing on the planed section, as there is exposed ironwork to avoid and driving at speed flicks stones and dust up onto the parked cars.

Thank you.
