Fourth Night Of LBP Road Improvements Update

04 July 2025 5:45 AM | Anonymous

Works Status: On Schedule

LBP would like to kick-off this update with an apology to all the vehicle owners parked on the first section of Chartwell Road yesterday. Your vehicles were not transported to the Sahara Desert whilst you worked. The four foot of dust you returned to, was a result of the huge number of traffic movements navigating the planed road surface next to your vehicles and unfortunately could not be avoided.

What a difference four nights of LBP Road Improvements has made though!

Spencer Road, Blenheim Road and now the first section of Chartwell Road have been beautifully transformed to provide a sneak peak of what all the public roads across the park will look like, hopefully by the end of next week. 20 metres at the end of the first section of Chartwell Road, has been transferred to tonight's resurfacing work, but this is not expected to impact the schedule.

The Chartwell Bend has also been planed ready for resurfacing tonight, when the planing will move on to cover the entrance to Chartwell Business Centre (CBC) and Marlborough Road Car Park. This will unavoidably remove access to the Marlborough Road Car Park and CBC from 8pm to 5am tonight and Monday night. Please can all night workers who are unable to access their employee parking because of the road improvements, park off the business park until Tuesday when the Marlborough Road Car Park will be back in use at night again.

Please could you all help?

Early yesterday morning a non-LBP HGV visited a site in Blenheim Road and turned their wheel whilst not in motion, causing some damage to the new road surface. Fortunately, LBP was onsite in time to help flatten the still slightly sticky surface, aided by a kind Rabbit driver who used his vehicle to finish off the flattening. However, this happen again a bit later on and we were unable to flatten the surface completely as they curing process was further advanced.

Please can you update all your drivers and any deliveries companies that you’re expecting, to drive carefully and not turn that wheel unless currently in motion, as we really want the best surface possible to provide longevity. Please can you also ask them to slow completely down through the planed areas, as this will improve safety and reduce dust.

LBP would like to again thank all the businesses and staff for their support in removing parked vehicles from LBP roads by 8pm, this is really helping to keep the works on schedule. Last night two vehicles were lifted to provide unencumbered access for the roadworks crew and two lanes of traffic travelling the wrong way around the one-way system. LBP are sorry this is causing everyone extra work, but please keep this up as it is essential. Thank you.
