On Tuesday 10th June, LBP met with West Sussex Highways and FM Conway to walk the park and discuss their programme of resurfacing works on LBP's public highways.

FM Conway have confirmed the works will commence at night on:

Monday 30th June and aim to be completed by Friday 11th July

Road Closure Orders will be in place for weeknights between 8pm and 6am to enable these works. All pavements will remain open during the works and no parking will be allowed in the works area between 8pm and 6am. Please note that any vehicles found to be obstructing the works will lifted out of the way.

LBP is working with businesses who operate out of hours to help enable required access. Staff will be on site to help redirect traffic around the one way system to keep as much of the park accessible during the works and FM Conway have confirmed they will enable access whenever possible.

We ask that all motorist please be patient during these essential works.

The programme has been designed so that each section of road will be planed one night to remove the top layer and then resurfaced and line painted the following night. This will allow the very heavy machinery to proceed around the park without then driving on the newly laid surface. Trucks will be on the park to immediately remove the debris and transport this to Newhaven to keep the park as clear as possible.

After a section of road has been planed, it will be reopened to traffic at 6am (or earlier if possible). Please could drivers be extra careful as there will be a ramp onto the planed area and off again.

It is essential that the very heavy machinery remains at the point that it finishes that night, ready for the next night. This does mean the machinery will take up parking spaces during the day, but this is unfortunately unavoidable.

Additional substructure works are planned for Spencer Road to help prevent future collapes, but this does mean that Spencer Road will be fully closed to all vehicles from 8pm until 6am for at least two nights. We therefore ask that anyone needing access to Spencer Road during the schedule work nights, please park off the park and walk to their site.

To help businesses plan, we have publish below the proposed dates for each road and a map of the area being worked on (highlighted in yellow). Please note that the surface being laid is designed for heavy HGV use and cannot be laid if it is raining. These dates are therefore weather dependant and LBP will keep you updated as we proceed through the works:
