ENERGY RECOVERY PLANT UPDATE
13/01/09
Following update received re energy recovery plant 13 January 2009. Unfortunately as I am sure you are aware we caused some concern on the estate yesterday regarding steam and noise, this was as a result of a pipe on the system that allows the turbines to warm up prior to starting being undersized. This problem is being addressed by the design house and will involve the fitting of a new pipe that will be led to the existing silencer in the roof so that no disturbance is caused during a normal start up procedure. At present we have engineers from Siemens in Germany onsite to commission the turbines and if we lose them from site we will have great difficulty in getting them to return. We propose to use the existing turbine warm up line and endeavour to limit the venting of steam via this to between the hours of 1000 to 1600 and for a period of less than 2 hours. Yesterdays venting was for a more extended period due to setting up difficulties once we were able to give the Siemens engineers the steam at the required temperature, this duration of venting should not be required again. Please be assured that this procedure is not part of the normal day to day operation of the facility and we will endeavour to keep disturbance to minimum and as I am sure you can appreciate complete the commissioning process and therefore any potential disturbance in as short a time as possible.
