Karen Davies has been appointed as Workplace & Community Health Improvement Nurse and will be working in Adur to help people with busy lifestyle to take their health seriously. The role of Workplace & Community Health Improvement Nurse has been facilitated by WSCC, and is also supported by Adur District Council, Worthing Borough Council and the PCT. A large part of Karen’s role will involve carrying out personal health reviews, which will include checks on blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, body fat percentage. Karen said “Working people spend the greater part of their lives at work, so the workplace is a good and currently under-utilised location to influence the adoption of healthy lifestyles. Men are less likely to visit their GP surgeries, reducing the chance of prevention and early detection of conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.” In the week beginning 11th February Karen will be on site at Lancing Business Park to provide free Blood Pressure tests and advice to employees. Location & date TBA. ACTION: CS to organise location (possibly Tuk Tuk?)
